GEORGE TOWN, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- The Magistrate's Court on Wednesday sentenced a car cleaner to eight months' jail and fined him RM1,000 in default one month's jail for stealing a motorcycle.
Magistrate Noor Aini Yusof imposed the sentence on R. Balasubramaniam, 31, after he pleaded guilty to stealing the RM1,500 motorcycle belonging to Neoh Kok Oun at Jalan SP Cheliah, Jalan Patani here, at 6.15 pm on Feb 14.
In mitigation, Balasubramaniam, who was not represented, asked for a light sentence, saying he was taking care of his ailing mother and two younger sisters.
In the same court, two friends were fined RM3,000 in default three months' jail and RM2,000 in default two months' jail each after pleading guilty to two charges of establishing and operating an entertainment outlet illegally.
Ch'ng Thean Seang, 23, and Nyeok Feng Kun, 20, were fined RM3,000 each on the first charge of setting up an illegal public entertainment outlet at Block 42C-G-27 Sri Saujana, Lebuh Macallum here, at 4.40 pm on June 3 last year.
